How to make Winter Mulled Cider

Tis the season to treat yourself to nice things and what better way to warm up the cockles of your heart with some warm mulled drinks. You don't always have to opt for mulled wine, mulled cider works really well too. Super easy to make, why not give it a try.

Here's your recipe to make a super christmassy drink to warm you up on a dark, cold evening.

What you will need:

750ml cider

2 tbsp sugar

Juice of one orange or two clementines

1 cinnamon stick or half tsp ground cinnamon

A grating of nutmeg

A clove or two

1 star anise

Method:

Step 1

Pour the cider into a saucepan.

Step 2

Add all the other ingredients.

Step 3

Turn on the heat and gently heat. Stirring to dissolve the sugar. Continue to simmer on a low heat for about ten minutes.

Step 4

Serve warm. Decorate with slices of apples, twists of lemon or clementines.

A non alcoholic alternative

If you are looking for a non alcoholic drink, try mulled apple juice. Simply heat apple juice and a sprinkle of cinnamon on the hob until warm and serve as above. Sharp, tasty and delicious.

Enjoy your Winter tipple, thank you for reading and have a really great Christmas.
