6 ways to be happier

Updated: Feb 16, 2022

Let's be honest we all want to be happy. Humans are generally better creatures when we feel happy or happier. We are kinder to others, kinder to ourselves, get more done and feel better about just about everything. It's not always that easy though, things can get us down and life loves to through some pretty cruel curve balls from time to time. For me, if I feel myself slipping down that slippery slope I know it's time to catch myself and do something about it. I'm lucky that usually means a run or to be in nature. I know that's going to help in some small way.

Here are 6 simple ways to feel happier. Just looking at them I love this list. You will notice the ideas are not about money or buying stuff but more about finding the time to do things that you enjoy and looking after yourself a little more carefully.

Number 1:

Try a citrus essential oil. Citrus oils like orange, bergamot, and orange essential oils are great for relieving stress, anxiety, and agitation. Try burning our Lime and Basil essential oil candle. And relax:) Pure happiness.

Number 2:

Read happy, positive and uplifting literature. Steer away from depressing dark dramas and choose funny, educational or positive tomes. A book stays with you all day. Read dark tales about death before bed and guess what you'll dream about. Positive, entertaining stories or autobiographies will hopefully be energising and uplifting.

Number 3:

Go outside and experience the seasons. It doesn't matter if it's drizzly, just get a decent coat and head outdoors, even if it's just for an hour. You will not regret getting some air in your lungs and making your body do a little work. Your coffee will taste better on your return and your shower will never feel as good as when you've been soaked to the skin. It's the small pleasures that count.

Number 4:

Pack a picnic and go somewhere you've never been before. It doesn't have to be far, in fact why not explore those places close to home you have never been to or keep meaning to visit.

Number 5:

Have an adventure. Go somewhere new, plan a hike to somewhere you haven't been before, dust your bike off, maybe try something new or catch a train and visit a new city.

Number 6:

Make fun a priority TODAY. Watch a comedian on TV, rent a movie that's going to make you laugh and uplift. Invite some friends around for a glass of wine. Get your bike out and whizz down a hill with your legs out like when you were a kid. In fact, let's be more child-like, they seem to have got it right those clever kiddywinks.

Anyway, look after yourself folks. Smile, breathe deeply and have a very happy day.

Warm wishes,
